Michael Amador Gutierrez

Michael “Mike” Amador Gutierrez was born on December 11, 1980 in Denver, Colorado to Michael Amador Gutierrez Sr. and Wilda Gutierrez.  He attended schools on the Central Coast of California and graduated from Santa Maria High School, class of 1999.   He explored life through a variety of jobs, even living in Alaska for a time, but ultimately found lasting purpose and camaraderie during more than two decades working at Omniduct in Sacramento, his final home. 

Mike was a man of many layers.  He was private and proud, yet deeply generous beneath his quiet strength. Known as the jokester of the family, he could light up a room with his humor and heart and brought laughter wherever he went.  Michael had a wide range of interests that reflected his vibrant personality. He had a deep love for music and possessed an extraordinary talent; he could hear a song once and then teach himself to play it by ear on his guitar. He was a gifted artist, channeling his creativity into detailed drawings. His smothered burritos were also legendary among those lucky enough to share a meal with him.  Mike was an avid reader with a deep love for fantasy epics like Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones, and he was a devoted Star Wars fan.  A history buff and geography enthusiast, he proudly won his eighth-grade geography bee. He also played high school football and was known for his speed on the field. Mike was a fiercely loyal Raiders fan and enjoyed cruising in his black Mustang, which was his pride and joy. 

In his final act of love and protection, Michael chose to keep his illness private to spare those around him from worry and passed away on October 21, 2025. Michael is survived by his Father Michael Amador Gutierrez Sr., his mother Wilda Kay Gutierrez, his sisters Monetta DeSaw and Olivia Safarian and his niece Odette Safarian and his nephew Edmund “Bear” Safarian. 

Mike’s strength and selflessness will forever be remembered. May his memory bring comfort and laughter to all who knew him.
