Michael Eugene “Mike” Barker, 67, of Roseville, CA, passed away unexpectedly on October 20, 2025, due to double pneumonia that progressed to septic shock.
Born on May 25, 1958, in Glendale, CA, Mike graduated from Del Campo High School in Carmichael in 1976. He dedicated his career to being a Commercial Land Broker and Real Estate Agent, proudly holding his ALC license.
Mike was a talented musician with a perfect pitch, able to play any instrument, though drumming was his true passion. He marched with the Freelancers Drum & Bugle Corps and performed with several bands, most notably the Bluesexciters and the Ryder Green Band. He loved restoring vintage drum kits, hosting game nights, traveling with his beloved wife Ivey, and had a deep appreciation for musicals. A devoted Christian, Mike was also a lifelong member of the Lions Club and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
He is survived by his wife and soulmate of 38 years, Ivey Castro Barker; son Blane Barker and fiancée Shannon Izquierdo (a professional bassist); daughter Jessika Oden and husband Joshua Oden; granddaughters Athena Jade Oden and Maia Ruby Oden, with a grandson expected in May 2026; great-niece Yasmine Cole (whom Mike and Ivey had planned to adopt on October 16, 2025); brother Duane Barker, sister in Law Dina Barker; Nieces Brittany Barker, husband Jed Stoken, son August, Geena Barker; nephew Jayson Barker and his wife’s extended family members; Malice Phelps, Machel Shields, Morreen and Scott Howard, Robert “Kelly” Castro, Wendy and Glen Marshall, Libby Harris and Terry Alexander, father in law Robert Castro Sr., along with seven nieces, seven nephews, and thirteen great-nieces and ten great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Ray Barker and Olive Berthelle (Bert) Barker, and his mother-in-law, Virginia Castro.
A celebration of life will take place in California in 2026 (date to be announced). Mike will be laid to rest at La Pine Cemetery at a later date (TBA). Memorial contributions can be made in his name to Lions Club International or Big Brothers Big Sisters.
