Melodie Scheideman Obituary

Melodie Ann Clark Scheideman was born in Sacramento on October 26, 1959, and spent her entire life in the Folsom and Sacramento communities. She passed away on January 2, 2026, after a brief illness, leaving behind a legacy of love and creativity. Melodie was predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Carol Clark, and is survived by her sisters, Michelle and Sabrina Clark, as well as her devoted husband of 41 years, Richard Scheideman.

As a child, Melodie participated in many different activities, including Bluebirds, Campfire Girls, tap dancing and ballet. Michelle fondly remembers her time practicing and performing dance with Melodie during their early years. Family camping trips provided plenty of chances for group games and recreational activities. Sabrina remembers being smuggled into the drive-in to watch movies. By the time she graduated from Folsom High School, Melodie had taught herself to sew and enjoyed designing and making fashionable clothes for herself.

Melodie and Richard were married and bought their home in 1985. As a young adult, Melodie was renowned among family and friends for her Martha Stewart–like flair—her ability to transform everyday moments into celebrations of beauty. Whether preparing exquisite meals, cultivating lush gardens, or designing a welcoming home, she poured her heart into everything she touched. Her garden, a reflection of her artistic spirit, was featured several times in the East Sac Garden Tour, and her culinary talents were celebrated with recipes published in the Sacramento Bee. Her soul was nourished by vacations at The Sea Ranch, and she cherished adventures camping, hiking, and canoeing throughout California. Her travels also led her to visit Uncle Wally in Arizona, enjoy sun-soaked days in Mexico, and embark on a memorable trip to Paris.

Melodie’s professional career began in 1983 at a medical professional liability insurance company. Soon after, she followed her culinary passion and founded “Auntie Mel’s,” a catering company that brought her culinary talents to life. She continued to follow her passions and pursued studies in horticulture at American River College, where she earned her Master Gardener Certification. While working at Talini’s Nursery, she connected her personal interests to a growing professional expertise by opening her own landscape design business, “Gardens.” Melodie designed and consulted on many of East Sacramento’s most beautiful gardens. In 1993, Melodie transitioned to UC Davis Medical Center as a clinical case manager, where her organizational skills flourished. Her commitment to excellence led her to grow within the organization, ultimately retiring in 2016 as a supervisor. Throughout each career move, Melodie’s personal passions were intertwined with her professional path.

Those who knew Melodie best remember her as a caring daughter, devoted wife, loving sister, and a treasured friend and family member. She was a beloved sister-in-law to her husband’s brothers and their wives, a cherished niece to Uncle Wally, a soul sister to her friend Diane, and favorite “Auntie Mel” to Erika, Andrew, Sidney, Agatha, and Taylor, as well as a great aunt to Erika’s sons Sawyer (10) and Finnson (7), Sidney’s daughters Ella and Bailey (3), and Taylor’s daughter Bently (7 months). Her circle of friends, neighbors, and family will forever remember her warmth, her creativity, and the joy she brought to every occasion.

Melodie’s legacy lives on in the lives and hearts of those she touched, in the gardens she tended, the meals she lovingly prepared, and the celebrations she brought to life. Her spirit will continue to inspire all who seek beauty, kindness, and joy in the world around them.
