Mary Lou Patterson

Mary Louise “MaryLou” Patterson of Sacramento, CA passed away on February 4, 2025 at the age of seventy-three. She was born on April 15, 1951 in Alameda, CA and grew up in Castro Valley, CA where she earned her diploma from Castro Valley High School in 1969. She graduated magna cum laude from Biola University in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science. She also earned her Clear Credential from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing allowing her to teach K-12. She worked as a case worker for the social security administration with the Federal Government, from which she retired.   

She was an avid animal lover, and was actively involved in teaching children as a teacher’s aid and as a longtime Sunday school teacher. She was also very active in the women’s ministry at Central International Fellowship. She was a phenomenal wife and mother. She was known for her quiet strength, keen intellect, funny sense of humor, patience and kindness.  

She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mary Hermann. 

She is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, Don Patterson, and their children, Robert Walter Patterson and Sara Mya Keith, as well as her older brother, Larry Hermann and his wife, Sharon, and numerous cousins. 

Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life service at Central International Fellowship at 4760 16th Ave, Sacramento, CA 95820 on March 29, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. Visitation with the family will immediately follow.
