Mark D. Sweat, 63, passed away on November 25th, 2025 after suddenly getting cancer. Mark was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a cherished friend whose kindness and gentle spirit touched everyone who knew him.
Born with a big heart and an even bigger presence, Mark spent his childhood playing sports with the neighborhood kids, earning the nickname “Moose” because he towered over the rest. He carried that same playful spirit into his teenage years, where he surprised many by winning a high school baking contest for creating the best cake, something he always looked back on with pride.
Mark had a deep love for nature. The mountains, caves, forests, and stars brought him peace and wonder. He introduced his wife, Irma, to hiking, sparking a lifelong passion for exploring the outdoors together. They raised their children on camping trips, adventures, and countless memories under the open sky. When their daughters grew up, Mark and Irma continued traveling, visiting many national parks, always eager for the next trail, the next breathtaking view.
A patient gardener, Mark took great pride in his lawn and plants. Neighbors often stopped to admire the beauty he tended with such care, telling him, “You have such a beautiful garden.” In his backyard he would feed the squirrels & birds everyday with peanuts and seeds.
Mark worked for SRC Company for 25 years and was respected for his dedication and hard work. During his time there, he made many close friends and spoke often of how much he admired his bosses. He took great pride in his work and rarely ever wanted to take a day off, truly loving what he did and the people he worked alongside.
He is survived by his loving wife, Irma; his step-son, Robert; his daughters, Faith and Amanda; his brother, Paul; and his sisters, Terry and April. He was preceded in life by his parents and his brother, Scott.
