John Wayne Espinoza

October 10, 1947 – July 20, 2025

John Wayne Espinoza, 77, of Sacramento, California, passed away peacefully at home on July 20, 2025, surrounded by his loving children and siblings.

Born on October 10, 1947, to Audelino and Rose Espinoza, John was a devoted son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle. He proudly served his country as a decorated U.S. Army veteran, honored with a Bronze Star and four Purple Hearts for his bravery and service.

A skilled construction worker by trade, John learned the craft from his father and worked hard throughout his life. He will be remembered for his humble spirit, generous heart, and unwavering love for his family.

John is survived by his children: Mendi Espinoza (Joe Rodriguez Jr.), Jeanne Espinoza, Kelly Achenbach, John Espinoza II, and Marina Espinoza. He is preceded in death by his beloved son, Joseph Espinoza.

He leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Juan Roybal Jr., Jasmine Espinoza, Anthony Ortiz, Kaia Auchenbach, Clarie Auchenbach, Lily Espinoza, Jayden Espinoza, John Wayne III Espinoza, Joseph Espinoza and Amelia Espinoza. John is preceded in death by his grandson Francisco Roybal.

He is also survived by his great-grandchildren: Chzaray Roybal and Sarah Layah Roybal.

John will be dearly missed by his siblings: Gloria (Dennis) Sullivan, Sandra Espinoza, Audelino Espinoza, Elaine (Steve) Alfaro, Patrick Espinoza, Yvette (Derek) Monteiro, James Espinoza,  Paul Espinoza, and his brother Mark Espinoza and is preceded in death by his brother Charles Espinoza. He is also remembered with love by many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at All Hallows Church, 5501 14th Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95820.
- Rosary at 9:00 AM
- Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM

Following the service, a military burial will take place at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, CA 95620.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at the All Hallows Church Hall after the burial.

John's legacy of love, strength, and humility will live on through the many lives he touched.
