George Robert Crowl was born on June 24, 1935, in Avon, Illinois, and passed away peacefully on July 3, 2024, in Sacramento, California. His parents were George E. Crowl and Lenora A. Young and he had three sisters.
George remained in Illinois until he graduated from high school and enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was stationed at Mather Air Force Base and made Sacramento his home. He became a loving father to four children and three stepchildren.
George quickly found his love and passion for Little League baseball. He was a devoted manager and coach with Fruitridge Little League for 20+ years and enjoyed sharing his knowledge of the game and teaching future generations to play.
George worked at Duralum Awning for 10 years, and then retired from Aerojet General Corporation, after working more than 30 years. He played softball weekly with Golden Seniors Softball Club until he was almost 80 years old. After retiring, George enjoyed visiting casinos and traveling cross-country in an RV with his wife and family.
George was a strong, courageous man who was blessed with a wonderful sense of humor. He loved to joke and make others laugh. He will be missed by his family and life-long friends.
George was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lenora Crowl, two of his sisters, Martha Cox and Barbara Icenogle, and his stepson, Ronald Peterson.
He is survived by his wife, Grace Crowl, his sister Darlene Neidy, his children, Robert Crowl, Sheryl [Anthony] Pereda, Jennifer [Larry] Watts and Douglas [Sue] Crowl, and his step-children, Kevin [Karen] Peterson and Sharon [Rich] Tupen, as well as 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
