A life full of soul, style, and steady love. We gather to celebrate the journey of Charles “Mudd” Jones, who departed this world just two days shy of his 66th birthday. Though his time here has ended, the spirit he carried lives on in the hearts of all who knew him. Born in Wilmington, Delaware, on September 19, 1959, Mudd walked this earth with quiet confidence and a timeless cool. He was the kind of man who didn’t have to say much. His presence spoke volumes. Genuine to the core, kind without condition, and solid as they come. And let’s be clear Mudd was the flyest. Best dressed in every room, every time. From his sharp hats to crisp shoes, he had a style that couldn’t be touched. More than just clothes, it was the way he carried himself. With grace, with pride, and with that smooth Mudd flair.
But his true treasure was never in fabric or fashion, it was in family, in love, and in the simple joy of being with his people. Mudd loved being surrounded by those who meant the most to him. Laughter echoing, good food, stories flowing, and memories made in moments that seemed ordinary, but now feel golden. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Ray, and is survived by his loving mother, Dorothy Black, whose presence remained a shining light in his life. Mudd leaves behind a legacy of love in his siblings: Edward (Eddy), Danny, Anthony (Tony), Jonathan (Johnny), Victor(Vic), Craig and Val, Dorothea, Victoria (Toy), and Annette (Net) and sisters on his fathers side: Angeline (Angie) Donna and Brook (Leon) each one a branch of the family tree he stood strong beside always with love.
His heart belonged most fully to his Three Beautiful Daughters: NaShayla (Jamel Weeks), Malika (Andre Humphrey), and Latifah Bright. Women who carry his strength, his style, and his spirit forward. Through them, came six amazing Grandchildren, the bright stars in Mudd’s sky: KhaMel Weeks, Princess-KhaLi Weeks, Princess-Moye Weeks, Bracen Mitchell, Sahir Humphrey, and Hayes Humphrey. He remained a lifelong, devoted friend to Crystal Bright, the mother of his daughters, a bond that stood the test of time, anchored in mutual love and respect. He is also remembered by a host of cherished close family members and special friends, each one a thread in the rich fabric of Mudd’s life.
Charles “Mudd” Jones was more than a man. He was a presence. A vibe. A protector, a brother, a father, a grandfather, and always a good dude. He walked through life with quiet dignity and left behind a legacy that whispers,
“Love your people. Dress your best. Stay solid. Stay real.”
Rest in power, Mudd. Your light, your laugh, your legacy lives on.
Fly high, and stay fresh forever.
